Why doesn't Microsoft have as many exclusives as Nintendo?

As the title says. Why doesn't Microsoft have as many exclusives as Nintendo?

i don't think they really need it, Halo sells their console really well. Nintendo is also a toy company so that explains why its probably easier for them to create new titles.

They have the exclusives they need. A lot of people buy multi-plat shooters on Xbox as well cuz of the Elite controller and ability to map paddles on the back to give them an advantage (I find FPS like CoD and BF better on the Xbox One over PS4 personally, resolution doesn't really matter to me much.) and as stated, Halo sells units pretty well. Nintendo is basically a 1st party only company, no one wants to program for the Wii U so the only titles really released for it is from Nintendo themselves nowadays. The 3DS is also lacking 3rd party support but it's a bit more widespread than the Wii U.
