Mariokart Wii U Dying Down?

So theres a rumor going around about MarioKart Hype dying down and not many people are playing it anymore and have moved on to other games. People are reporting that the lobbies have been alot more empty then usually.

Do you think any of this is true or have witnessed alot of lobby emptiness lately?
