Here's my list with reasons:

Fushigi Yûgi: The Mysterious Play (reason: Wonderful story that sucks you in & an ending you'll never see coming. I still watch it on a yearly basis just to enjoy it.)

Chobits (reason: Hilarious. That & the mystery & romance of the series is just wonderful in general.)

Azumanga Daioh (reason: Hilarious. That & the story of the female characters your shown in the anime is really cute when you get down to it.)

Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live (reason: wonderful story & great music.)

Brynhildr in the Darkness (reason: These girls are given enhancement drugs in order to keep their powers they are given by thier government but they have to keep taking them to live & are kept from living normal lives. A few escape to freedom & the story told after their escape is really interesting. Defiantly a must see impo.)
